Making The Best Of What You Have

Making the Best of What You Have

Recently, my company, Wuh Duh Fuh®, participated in the Wine & Chili Festival in Solvang, California. It was an exciting opportunity—but like many things in life, it didn’t start out as planned.

As a new vendor, I was placed outside the main event area, where most of the long-time vendors were located. Not ideal, but I arrived early, set up my booth, and told myself it would still be a great day.

Then, just as I was getting settled, a last-minute vendor arrived and set up directly in front of me—complete with a large backdrop that completely blocked my visibility from the main crowd.

At that moment, I had a choice.

I could let frustration take over… or I could lean into Zenatude.

I paused, stayed calm, and focused on solutions instead of the problem.

First, I checked with the event organizers to see if there were any cancellations in the main area. There was an opening—but moving my entire setup across the field in a short window didn’t feel realistic.

Next, an event organizer approached the vendor in front of me and respectfully asked if he’d be willing to remove his backdrop. Fortunately, he agreed, and just like that, one major obstacle was gone.

That’s when it clicked.

There wasn’t much more I could control externally—but I had full control over my attitude, my energy, and how I showed up.

I reminded myself that my banners, my setup, and most importantly, my personality would do the real work. So I leaned in. I engaged. I connected. I made people laugh. I brought the Wuh Duh Fuh® energy to life.

To my surprise, the event organizers even stepped in with another creative solution—making announcements from the stage to encourage attendees to visit vendors on the outskirts, including me.

And in the end?

It turned out to be a great event.

Not because everything went perfectly—but because I chose not to let the situation control me. I took control of my response. I stayed adaptable. I kept things positive. And I made it work.

That’s what Zenatude is all about.

Life doesn’t always give you the perfect setup. Things go sideways. Plans change. Obstacles show up uninvited.

But in every situation—no matter how frustrating—we still have a choice.

We can react… or we can respond.

We can focus on what’s going wrong… or we can make the most of what we have.

Because at the end of the day, the one thing we always control is how we show up—and that ultimately shapes the outcome.

Have a Zenatudinal Day!
