Who’s excited for 2023? Have you set your New Year’s Resolution (NYR)?

If you’re all in for the NYR “IT” challenge, keep on reading😊

So first, let’s look at the definition of resolution…it’s “a firm decision to do or not to do something.” Hmmm…to DO or NOT do…

What’s that one thing that you have a burning desire to achieve, or something you want to quit doing? It must be something that YOU truly want and aligns with your values (those things that you believe are important in your life). Make your “IT” realistic and attainable.

Next, what does the outcome look like and feel like when you are doing (or not doing) your “IT?”

Now, write down your NYR and describe the outcome…brainstorm…draw a picture of what it looks like. Feel how excited you are for reaching your “IT” and jot down those adjectives.

Great, now that you’ve chosen your “IT,” it’s time to plan! Identify the steps you need to take to accomplish your “IT.” Remember, it’s all about the small actions and effort you put in, that gets you closer to “IT”. KAIZEN! (Baby steps)!

Finally, the trickiest part of all…sticking to IT.

Place that NYR piece of paper in a convenient spot in your house that you frequently pass by. Or snap a photo and set a reminder each week to check your NYR on your phone or computer.

Even better, align yourself with an “Accountability Partner,” someone that you check in with each week or bi-monthly via email/text/phone. Discuss what’s working and what’s not, then keep moving towards IT.

Most of all, CELEBRATE your effort along the way…small wins are powerful and keep you focused!

According to a NYR study on, “9% successfully keep their New Year’s Resolution.” Let’s NOT be that 91% who doesn’t. Who’s in?
